There have been many stories on this website over the past few months on Crossthestart, and with good reason.

On Saturday, Crossthestart tackles the 2100m at Eagle Farm and will start a solid favourite with punters.  A win there and he will make the trip south towards the Group 1 Metropolitan Handicap over 2400m at Randwick on October 3.

The son of Cape Cross was taken to Doomben on Wednesday for a solid hitout between races and now goes into Saturday’s race ready to tackle the extra distance.  He has to contend with 57.5kg and meets some in-form horses however his form throughout the winter was first class.

Champion rider Jim Byrne sticks with Crossthestart having ridden him at his past 5 starts with a record of 3 wins and 2 thirds and prizemoney in that period of more than $105,000.  Good luck to owner Dick Karreman.

In other news, talented mare Play Just For Me is set to run on Sunday at the Showcase meeting at Ballarat.  It is safe to say that Play Just For Me has not enjoyed the best of luck since arriving in our Victorian stable a few months ago.  She has been scratched a number of times and in between that at her only start in Victoria, she endured bad luck during the race yet ran exceptionally well to finish second.

This time, the bad luck is that she is second emergency, however with the likelihood of a couple of scratchings, hopefully she can firstly get to the races, and then show us what we know she is capable of.

Good luck to all owners engaged over the weekend, hopefully we can keep the good run going.
