Lightly raced Stravinsky gelding Sea Skye again produced his customary big finishing burst to take out Wednesday’s Grand Cidium Handicap over 1500m at Sandown.

Settling towards the rear of the field in a generous pace, Sea Skye was eased to the outside and finished better than any other runner for a slashing win.  He was ridden perfectly by Brian Higgins who maintains his perfect record with the Sea Skye.

Sea Skye ran his last 800m in less than 46 seconds, this was an extremely good effort as it was run on a slow track.  This time was also comparable to the majority of the sprinting races earlier in the day.

The win takes Sea Skye’s record to 4 wins and 3 seconds from only 10 starts and more than $66,000 in prize money.  The win was a highlight for the owners in particular Barry Lynch who described the win as his biggest ever as an owner.  Congratulations to all of the owners Jenny Laming, Paul Felgate, Michael Hibbert, Kypros Kotzikas, Barry Lynch, Ian MacDonald, Paul Smith and Marilyn Yates.

Sea Skye’s win also showed that our stable enjoys great success with the Stravinsky breed.  We currently have Sea Skye, Play Just For Me and Lavra Selene who all show great ability and we are always happy to welcome a few more into the stable.
