Every trainer will tell you that there are certain races that they love to win and over the years the Brisbane Cup is definitely one of them for Laming Racing.

After winning the event twice in the 90's with Desert Chill, it had been a while between drinks before it was time to plan another assault on the time honoured race.

Then Crossthestart entered our stables about twelve months ago and after months of planning, he was able to win our third Brisbane Cup with a dominant display.

Perfectly ridden by champion jockey Chris Munce, Crossthestart jumped from a wide barrier and was able to slot in behind the leaders before easing out at the top of the straight and ran away to win comfortably.

Since arriving in our stables, Crossthestart has 17 starts for 6 wins, 2 seconds and 2 thirds and a massive $474,525 in prize money.

It was a fantastic result for all involved in both the Queensland and Melbourne stables. Also congratulations to winning owner Dick Karreman. Dick has supported our stable for many years and had some terrific horses such as stakes winner I Am A Ripper and Grand National winner Mookta Heights.

Crossthestart will now enjoy a break before setting his sights on the big Melbourne staying races such as the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups.
