by NOT A SINGLE DOUBT from WORKHARD
Under darkening skies at Sandown, the Richard Laming-trained Payroll was finally rewarded for her consistency when edging out the Charlie Appleby-trained visitor Kidmenever in the Group III Eclipse Stakes.
Three wide with cover under Damian Oliver, Payroll came with a well-timed finish to defeat Kidmenever by a short half-head with Jacquinot Bay another three-quarter of a length away third.
7yo Bay Mare
by MANHATTAN RAIN from HERIZ
A lightly raced six year-old prepared at Cranbourne by Richard Laming, Jamaican Rain won a Listed race in Queensland during the winter and was having her first run back from a spell in this 1400 metre contest.
She raced up on the pace and scored a three-quarter length win for Damien Oliver, her seventh win from 13 starts with prizemoney topping $330,000.
Jamaican Rain was bred and sold by Newhaven Park, fetching $90,000 at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale when bought by Homann Bloodstock with Newhaven Park retaining a share in her ownership.
