Cape Cross gelding Crossthestart made it two victories in a row with a sylish victory in the opening race today at Eagle Farm.
After jumping from a wide barrier, jockey Jim Bryne settled down towards the end of the field before finishing strongly down the outside. Crossthestart had to carry an extra 4kgs from his last tart victory but that didn’t stand in his way.
He now takes his record to 5 wins from 16 starts and almost $100,000 in prizemoney.
Today’s victory will also go down in the record books as it was the first race held under the banner of the newly formed Brisbane Racing Club after the recent merger of the Queensland and Brisbane Turf Clubs.
