Our Victorian stable is lucky in that we get the opportunity to have a local meeting every fortnight with the durable Cranbourne track hosting one every second Sunday.
This Sunday we take six good chances to the races to make the most of the home track advantage.
Our day starts off in race 4 where the lightly raced Hooray steps out in the 3yo Maiden over 1200m. She has always shown good ability at home and we are expecting a solid effort with the step up in distance. The wide barrier of 12 will make things tricky however she will show plenty of speed out of the gates.
In the following race we have two well performed horses in Awesome Glitch and Teretoa stepping out in the Maiden 1600m. Awesome Glitch resumed from a spell with a solid second at Casterton over 1400m and will definitely appreciate the likely wet conditions on offer. Teretoa has been very consistent in his career, he rarely runs a bad race and is knocking on the door to finally break that maiden status.
Race 6 will see another lightly raced filly in Mrs Elle line up in the Class 1 1400m. She has always promised good staying ability and we are excited to finally get her beyond 1200m and up to more suitable trips. She has still managed to be very competitive over the shorter distances and so her future looks bright.
In the eighth event we saddle up I'm The Fiddle (pictured) who has put in two good runs since resuming from a spell. He didn't enjoy the best of luck at Sale when first-up and then came from well back on the turn to finish fourth at Cranbourne. The step up to 2025m looks ideal and he looks to be a good chance from that barrier 2.
Dats Ma Gal, a new acqusition to our stable has settled in well and will round out our team on Sunday in the final event. She will compete in the 0-68 1000m and has shown a liking for rain affected tracks when previously trained in New South Wales.
In form riders Craig Newitt and Lisa Cropp will share the riding duties and we are looking forward to a good day. Good luck to all owners involved and we hope to see many of you out there.
