Cape Silver finally opened his tally today with a strong win at Doomben.
Now a 5yo, the son of Cape Cross broke his maiden status at only his fourth start. It has obviously been a frustrating run for connections to only see Cape Silver at the races four times, however their patience outlines his ability.
Now with a win under his belt, the half brother to star performer Eskimo Dan promises to go onto bigger and better things. Although today’s win was only a maiden, Cape Silver broke the class record for the 1650m at Doomben.
Congratulations to the winning owners Chris Dooley and Jenny Laming.
Today’s other runner was popular horse Chiefcomingfirst at Sandown. Having his first run in four weeks, the Chief ran a teriffic race to finish third coming from well back in the field. The Chief is likely to head back to Sandown over 2100m on Sunday August 16.
