There is a saying that has been around in racing for many decades, "bad things only happen to good horses".
Talented filly Hidden Babe (pictured) is an example of this, although thankfully those "bad things" were only constant wide barriers.
It seems as though wide barriers follow certain horses and Hidden Babe was one of them. On Wednesday at Eagle Farm she jumped from barrier 12 of 14 yet she didn't let stop her.
Jockey Larry Cassidy was caught wide without cover throughout the 1400m event, however her recent racing ensured that she was fit enough to be strong at the finish. After hitting the front halfway down the straight, she quickly put the race beyond doubt and went on to win by 1 1/4 lengths.
After ten career starts, she now has her first win and another three placings. The daughter of Hidden Dragon has always shown good ability and now with a win under her belt, we expect her to continue on her winning ways.
