Crevasse, a highly talented yet at times frustrating mare finally delivered what we all knew she was capable of with an all the way victory at Sandown on Wednesday.
To make the victory sweeter, she saved her career best performance for her last ever career start. Ridden by leading rider Dwayne Dunn, Crevasse was sent out as one of the outside chances in the field of seven however after jumping well, she managed to dictate terms from the front and held on to win by half a length.
The win at metropolitan level is an added boost to her life as a broodmare which has already begun. Using a trusted, yet uncommon technique, Crevasse was served by stallion Elvstroem late last year and is now in foal. While in foal, she has raced a lot more consistently this preparation and finally got a well deserved win.
She ends her career with over $72,000 in prize money from only 22 starts is bound to enjoy life as a mum. Congratulations to the winning owners Jeff Klementsen and Bevan and Jenny Laming.
