Promising young stayer Face The Front (pictured) is eyeing off a place in the Group 1 Queensland Derby on June 12 but has to clear one final hurdle before he earns his spot.
The son of Face Value (a stallion who was trained by Laming Racing), will line up at Doomben on Wednesday in a $25,000 three-year-old race over 2240 metres.
A victory in the race will earn him a spot in the $500,000 Derby to be run at Eagle Farm over 2400 metres.
Everything looks in place for him to run a top race, he has drawn a nice barrier and has a top jockey in Chris Munce. The good barrier is a nice change after he had no luck last start when trapped wide for the entire race.
Good luck to his owner, Jenny Laming.
In other Laming Racing news, star filly Ringa Ringa Rosie was desperately unlucky in Saturday’s Doomben Slipper finishing third. She will now head to the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes on June 12.
Other runners across the weekend who performed well were Crossthestart, Indeed I Am, Image Of Darkness, Sea Skye and Mr Smile. All of these horses look like a win is just around the corner.
