It doesn’t matter what race you are in, winning was never meant to be easy and that was proven by the up-and-coming Fly With Me who recorded his second victory in his last three starts at the Gold Coast on Thursday.
Fly With Me was challenged at the top of the straight and looked beaten a number of times before crossing the line in first place with the winning margin being only a nose.
To make things a little harder, connections of the second placed horse lodged a protest and after a lengthy delay in the stewards room, the protest was dismissed and Fly With Me was declared the winner.
Credit must go to champion Queensland jockey Jim Byrne who produced a great ride with his strength and poise over the final stages being the difference between winning and losing.
Fly With Me will continue to step up over the further distances throughout this preparation and we expect him to keep improving.
He now takes his career total to two wins and three placings from nine starts with just under $40,000 in prize money.
Congratulations to his owners Phil Cater, Dennis and Claire O’Brien and Jenny Laming.
