It has certainly been a big week for everyone at Laming Racing.
Firstly, we are very pleased to announce that the mare Chocolate And Lace who was auctioned off at Mackay races on Tuesday February 1, was sold for $6,250. The daughter of Tycoon Ruler had been in stabled in Mackay for her last four runs at Rebecca Binder's property. In that time she was able to win her maiden and place on two other occasions.
The auction was designed to raise badly needed funds to support the people who have been affected by the recent floods in Queensland. We are very proud of the money raised and hope that it goes some way to helping those in need.
On Saturday, we had a two-year-old making his debut called Dr Ichi who was an impressive winner at the Gold Coast. He won by two lengths and looks to have a very bright future. He was the very first winner for first season sire Dr Green. Last season, Bevan trained the first ever winner sired by Bradbury's Luck, Ringa Ringa Rosie (pictured).
Generally, first season sires are sold for a lot less money at the sales and we are building an excellent record with them. WIth the yearling sales currently in full swing, make sure you get in contact with Bevan or David Cameron and we will help you select your next champion. Some of the first season sires this year are Bernadini, Dylan Thomas, Haradasun, Host, Magnus, Purrealist and Soldier's Tale.
Rounding out the news for the week is our Friday Night winner at Moonee Valley, On Face Value. It was a great result as he is a product of our breeding program and took home more than $50,000 in prize money. He is likely to back-up this Friday Night in a similar race for even more money, Dwayne Dunn is very keen to stay on board.
The year has started well and we have plenty to look forward to with lots of horses currently at the trials and ready to hit the racetrack shortly.
