For those who are involved in the racing industry, you will agree that it can consume your life. With trackwork in the morning and race meetings in the afternoon, it is difficult to find the time to enjoy other popular sports such as football, cricket and tennis.
Laming Racing have always made an effort to follow local sporting teams in the community either in Victoria or Queensland. One of those teams is the mixed touch football team known as "Focus".
Focus, who are based close to our Jacobs Well stables in Queensland, recently played off in a grand final and came out on top, winning 6-3. The team was made up of 5 girls and 4 boys (pictured) including Jessica Davis, the grand-daughter of Bevan and Jenny.
To play well, you need to look well and the team certainly did that. They were decked out in Laming Racing shirts and Bevan is convinced that made them play better.
Well done to the whole team, you did us proud.
This is also a timely reminder that the annual Farriers v Stable Staff fooball match is fast approaching. The farriers took out the first two matches, however the stable staff bounced back with a good win last year. The match will take place on Sunday, October 3 at Pearcedale. We will be raising money for charity and would appreciate any form of sponsorship. Mark it in your diary, it is a great day out.
