In-form galloper Crossthestart chalked up another victory on Saturday at Eagle Farm with a commanding three-length win over 2100m.

Sent out a solid favourite by the punters, Crossthestart had to contend with jumping from 1500m to 2100m and carry 57.5kg.

These concerns were quickly put to rest when jockey Jim Byrne decided to move up and sit outside the leader midway through the race to avoid any trouble and once they turned into the straight, the race was never in doubt.

Crossthestart edges closer to a start in the Group 1 Metropolitan Handicap over 2400m at Randwick on October 3, a race worth $350,000.

Crossthestart has now earned more than $130,000 in prizemoney in his last six starts with 4 wins and 2 thirds.

In other stable news, Play Just For Me was narrowly beaten in a showcase race at Ballarat on Sunday.  The run was full of merit as she was knocked down twice at the start and picked herself up only to be run down in the closing stages.

Indeed I Am also produced his best career performance when beaten by a head into second place at the Gold Coast over 1800m.  The performance carried extra importance as it was the first ride in Australia for jockey Ashlee Mundy.  Ashlee has been riding work at our Jacobs Well stables for one month since arriving from New Zealand and her first ride almost landed a winner.  It didn’t take Ashlee long to get into the winners stall, she rode a winner two races later for trainer Harold Norman. Well done Ashlee!!
