Coyote kicks off in fine style
Nov 03, 2010
Recently our Queensland stable welcomed a lightly raced gelding called Coyote and it didn't take him very long to impress.
After seven starts in New South Wales, Coyote managed four placings and showed his share of ability. The trip further north has obviously given him a little extra boost as he ended his maiden status on Tuesday at the Gold Coast.
Having his first start for our stable, Coyote was sent out a popular favourite with punters and he never looked in danger. At 1200m, he was a fraction short of his preferred distance although that didn't seem to worry him as he recorded an easy two-and-a-half length win.
Settling well in the run, jockey Daniel Griffin eased him out at the right time and he rounded up the leaders very quickly.
The future looks bright for the son of Elusive Quality. Congratulations to the winning owners, Tony Bott and all the team at the Evergreen Stud Farm syndicate.
Tony had already forged a strong link with our stable after he bred star filly Ringa Ringa Rosie. She is currently spelling in Melbourne and will be aimed at the feature races over Brisbane's winter carnival next year.
