The Winners Continue

Jan 18, 2012

The purple patch of form for the Qld Laming Racing Team has continued with the most recent winners being Pea Biggy at Ipswich on Friday 25th Nov and Kar Ma Te Saturday 26th Nov.
Pea Biggy a 3yo daughter of Pentire has surprised, with the Pentire breed being notoriously slow maturers that race over longer distances. With the race experience of two prior starts, the addition of blinkers and being stepped up from 1300 the start before to 1700m, the filly sat just off the pace during the race to be pulled into the clear at the top of the straight and was too classy for her rivals winning comfortably by a length. Breaking her maiden status at this early stage of her career she is certainly showing promise.
The next day the team went to Eagle Farm with Kar Ma Te. In a race over the somewhat unsuitable distance of 1500m, his potential versatility shone through. The inform Chris Munce was sent out to try to teach the horse to settle in his races better. The quicker pace of the shorter race allowed Chris to get him travelling smoothly midfield. Once in the straight his turn of foot was to brilliant for the others and he was once again in the winners circle.
Bought by Bevan for $80k in N.Z after winning a trial over there, he is by the little known sire Lord Of Warriors. Now winning 3 of his 8 starts ,and desperately unlucky in two of his other races his record  really should be 5 from 8 and the furthest he has ever finished back is 5th.
Once he learns to relax in his races, Bevan expects him to develop into a very nice stayer. He is certainly an exciting horse on the up and one worth following. We look forward to seeing him in the winners stall again soon.
